Portrait of a gentleman, bust-length, in a feigned oval

Size Notes:
unframed: 67.5 x 54.4 cm.; 26? x 21½ in. The canvas is lined and the paint surface is clean with a relatively clear and even varnish. There is a slight degree of wear in the painted surface. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals small scattered retouchings throughout. There are some more concentrated retouchings: to a repaired damage in his collar (approximately 2 x 1cm); to two repaired vertical tears in the background upper left (the longest approximately 10cm); to two small repaired damages at the top of his hair; and to a few small spots lower right. The painting presents well and is ready to hang.
